My name is Terese Chiames Caire. I was born and raised in Fresno, CA where I began my teaching career. I started teaching in 1986. I went to Fresno State for my Bachelor’s and my Master’s degree in Counseling with a PPS Credential. I’ve taught many grades and I have learned from them all! I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. Each grade is special in its own way.
In 1992, I moved to Sherman Oaks when I married my husband, John Caire. John is also from Fresno. He is a builder here in the La Canada and Los Angeles area. We lived in Sherman Oaks for 11 years in a wonderful little neighborhood where everybody knew each other and you couldn’t take a walk without talking to half of the neighbors! We settled in La Canada when our children were in preschool. We love being here in La Canada where we have that same small community & neighborhood feeling.
John & I have two children. We adore them! They have grown up in La Canada. Maria & John Paul both went to Palm Crest since we live in the Palm Crest neighborhood! Maria is 22 years old and a senior in college. John Paul is 20 years old and a sophomore, and he is a baseball pitcher. Don’t blink! It goes by so fast!
Oh! I also have a third fur child. Her name is Petunia, and we call her Nia. She is a Wheaten Terrier and she is definitely a huge part of our family!
I am from a very close-knit family and I have a lot of extended family. That's what happens when you're half Greek, half Serbian. We see and talk to each other all the time. I like it that way. It's the way I grew up and it's what my kids grew up with.
In my spare time, I love spending time with family and friends. We love to travel in the US, Europe, especially Greece, where I have extended family. I also have family in Montenegro and love to visit there as well. We went to Peru a few years ago and we added that to our favorite list. This summer we traveled to Greece, Italy and Switzerland. It was wonderful. We love the NYC and New England. Favorite places? ...a Greek island, Paris, Florence, anywhere in Switzerland, Salzburg, Boston, New York City. Oh… and I love to shop with my daughter, and even my son. He's a great shopper too. :)
We are a baseball family. I love going to John Paul's baseball games. I have since he was very young. One of the best trips we took was when John Paul was on the Cooperstown Travel Baseball Team and my husband was one of the coaches. It was a great group of families. By the way, we are huge Red Sox fans because when my grandmother emigrated to the United States from Greece, she went to the Boston area where we have a lot of extended family. My dad was a huge Red Sox fan, and I have been going to Boston since I was young. GO SOX! There is nothing like a game at Fenway Park!
I love being a teacher at Palm Crest. It is a wonderful environment to be in every day. It's a family. I look forward to getting to know you and your children this year. I know this will be a fabulous year!
